Used to diagnose thoracic outlet syndrome. Patient sits with arm abducted to 90 degrees and elbows flexed to 90 degrees with shoulders braced. If patient is able to flex hands repeatedly for 3 minutes without symptoms, thoracic outlet obstruction is ruled out.
