Staging system used in Hodgkin disease. Stage 1, nodal involvement in 1 region only; stage 2, nodal involvement in 2 or more regions on same side of diaphragm; stage 3, nodal involvement on both sides of diaphragm (spleen counts as lymph node); stage 4, disseminated involvement of extranodal organs (liver, lung, brain), with or without lymph node involvement; subtype A, no night sweats, fever, weight loss or pruritus; subtype B, presence of night sweats, fever, weight loss, or pruritus.
