Hyperkeratosis of soles and palms, excessive and foul-smelling sweat production of feet, swelling and bleeding of gums with abscesses, halitosis, and eventual tooth loss; occurs early in childhood with repeating clinical course involving permanent teeth. Condition is autosomal recessive and is associated with mutations in gene coding for cathepsin C. Treatment is vitamin A, antibiotics, and dentures.
