Symmetric rash starting as vesicles and progressing to erythematosquamous type lesions, GI pain and diarrhea, alopecia, paronychia, conjunctivitis, photophobia, schizoid-type personality disorders, and stunted growth; onset in infancy. Condition is possibly related to jejunal malabsorption of zinc as serum zinc levels are decreased. Treatment is long-term daily oral zinc administration.
