Definitive surgical correction of Hirschsprung disease; usu. performed at 6Ð12 months of age. Normal ganglionic bowel is intussuscepted through abnormal bowel and out anus with resection of aganglionic bowel. Anastomosis is performed under direct vision and requires mobilization of rectum to level of levators and dissection around bladder. Good results have been reported with laparoscopic technique.
