AI (artificial generated) healthcare content on the internet has mushroomed in the last 12 months. Mindful of the significant percentage of the populace that researches medical questions online, content providers have jumped into the space, using large language models to author articles on highly complex topics of which they have little to no personal experience.
The result is what some have deemed the internet of AI search engine optimized crap to drive clicks and reap advertising dollars. One way that savvy searchers have devised to avoid this is to use the “before:2023” phrase in all online health searches on Google, DuckDuckGo and other search engines. The descriptor should be placed before the search inquiry.
Examples of possible search bar entries would be:
before:2023 What causes colon cancer?
before:2023 What are symptoms of a heart attack?
As there was virtually no AI generated content on the internet in 2022 and earlier, the above construct for searches will direct the algorithms to find content that was posted in 2022 or earlier.
