Technetium TC 99m sulfur colloid is a radionuclide test used in diagnosis when computed tomography (CT) scans reveal masses of uncertain histology.<\/p>\n

Sulfur colloid is phagocytized by reticuloendothelial cells when it is administered intravenously and concentrates in the bone marrow, liver, and spleen, including accessory spleens where it is extremely useful in tagging this anatomically misplaced tissue.<\/p>\n

The positions where the radiolabelled sulfur has concentrated is detected by using SPECT and a gamma-ray scintillation camera.<\/p>\n
