\nStricturoplasty for treatment of bowel strictures (as opposed to resection) is most indicated in Crohn’s disease to preserve bowel length and is generally done only in patients who have had multiple previous bowel resections. There is also some consideration given to this procedure in patients who have strictures and diffuse, severe disease.<\/p>\n

Contraindications include long strictures, multiple strictures in a short length of bowel, perforation, malnutrition, and hypoalbuminemia (low serum albumin.)
