Autoimmune disease caused by antibodies against parotid duct; marked by atrophy of parotid and tear glands. Condition causes sicca syndrome and xerostomia. Disorder is common in postmenopausal women and can be seen in chronic rheumatoid arthritis and other diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus, progressive systemic sclerosis, overlap syndrome, polymyositis/dermatomyositis, graft-versushost disease, malignant lymphoma, chronic Hashimoto thyroiditis, and chronic active hepatitis.
