Condition marked by progessive PR lengthening culminating in “dropped” P wave; followed by identical cycle or sometimes escape AV junctional beat before repeating cycle. Block is usually located in AV junction. Causes include digoxin toxicity, acute myocardial ischemia, calcium deposits in conduction tissue, and excessive vagal stimulation. Temporary or permanent pacing is not needed.
