Procedure used in subacromial bursography to investigate partial-thickness rotator cuff tears on bursa side. 38 mm, 25 gauge flouroscopy needle is inserted into supine patient 1.5 cm distal to anterolateral border of acromion and directed toward glenohumeral interval until tip is 2mm medial to lateral edge of acromion. 6ml of 1% lidocaine is injected with 4, 6, 8, and 12 ml of contrast material in series of 4 injections, with radiologic views taken in anterior-posterior direction with humerus in rotation. Tear is directed as extravasation of dye.
