Accumulation of calcium oxalate in tissues leading to eventual kidney failure and cirrhosis. Type 1 defect (glycolic aciduria) is caused by abnormal 2-oxoglutarate/glyoxalate carboligase; type 2 defect (1-glyceric aciduria) is caused by abnormal d-glyceric dehydrogenase.
