Posterolateral approach to tibia; uses longitudinal skin incision. Dissection takes place between peroneal muscles anteriorly and gastrocnemius, soleus, and flexor hallucis longus posteriorly. Procedural steps are detachment of distal soleus from fibula, medial dissection of interosseous membrane, and detachment of tibialis posterior.
