Craniofacial abnormalities, variably detached retinas, exophthalmos, glaucoma, cone-shaped eye lens, hemorrhagic nephritis, mild thrombocytopenia, cataracts, and high-frequency nerve deafness. Renal failure occurs in 2ndÐ3rd decade of life. Condition is autosomal dominant or X-linked recessive and is more severe in males. Cause is genetic defect of type 4 collagen, resulting in deficiency in basement membrane collagen.
