Omnipaque contrast dye used in CT imaging, vascular imaging, and cancer surgery is in short supply due to supply chain problems in China. The dye, made by GE Healthcare, is not being made in sufficient quantities for the US market due to shutdowns of the manufacturing plant due to COVID quarantines imposed on the plant’s workforce. The shortage is expected to last well into the summer. https://www.inquirer.com/health/medical-dye-stroke-blood-clot-hospital-lockdown-covid-china–20220523.html
