Correctly procured cadaveric kidneys to be used for transplantation should be prepared using the following techniques;
1. A patch of aorta should be included to avoid having to directly handle or cannulate the renal artery
2. The ureter should have maximum length and should not be “stripped” of surrrounding tissue (thus jeopardizing the segmental blood supply)
3. Excess perinephric fat should be trimmed by the procuring surgeon
4. Biopsy performed
