Royal College of Surgeons Calls Use of Locums Physicians Needed to Staff Shifts “Unsafe.”

The growing use of overseas locums physicians to work shifts previously worked by National Health Service physicians who reach the maximum 48 hour work week is causing “unsafe” patient care. Recently a German physician Dr. Daniel Ubani gave a fatal dose to a patient on his first shiftamid concerns that the locums doctors are poorly trained, expensive, and incompetent.
