New York State Now Mandating Dialogue Between Breast Surgeons and Patients

New York Governor David Paterson has signed a law that mandates that breast surgeons discuss the option of breast reconstruction with patients having mastectomy and provide a referral to an outside facility if need be. The legislation was spearheaded by Dr. Evan Garfein of Montefiore Medical Center.
