Nikolaos Reissis, a British orthopedic surgeon, has received only a formal warning from British medical authorities after his bungling in the operating room caused a patient to lose her leg and a second patient to receive an unneeded surgical procedure. The incidents occurred at Bishops Wood Hospital in the UK.
A Warning?
This appears as a “slap on the hand” to the conscious, calculated decisons to perform unneeded surgery, not to mention after making a mistake during surgery (which occurrs and can be forgiven)…to not seek immediate assistance by a specialist, with surely the knowledge, he was risking a patients leg. You have condoned Greed, you’ve given credance to and perpetuated the myth of Doctors having a “God Complex,” and given permission for Doctors to make decisions that are based upon what is best for themselves and not their patients.
I would hope these are isolated cases, but I doubt it given the severity of their nature.
Dr. Reissis’ decisions and actions speak to the core of his character. He needs training in the procedure he “botched,” to work under a supervisory board of review before being allowed to solely “determine” if surgery is needed and to lower his self esteem, perform public service. Perhaps a steep fine and a public acknowledgment might stimulate his character best of all, since he seems to be driven by greed and ego.
Nikos Reissis left me with a mishsapen shoulder after removing too much bone in a routine shoulder operation. He should be struck off….
These are not the only mess ups, he has also crippled my mother with botched surgery, we cant wait for the law suit to be finalised to publish and shame this man.
Reissis removed half my clavicle, all the ligaments and part of my subscalpular during a ‘ROUTINE CLAVICLE REPAIR’ in my opinion, this was no accident but a deliberate case of GBH with intent as a punishment against me for standing up against the NHS for failing to diagnose my ruptured clavicle for 3 years, I have since been victimized, refused treatment and had a complete character assasination put against by every doctor I have had the misfortune to have met.
This man should be locked up and the key thrown away, along with every doctor including Dr Birly from the Acorn Medical Center 192 Long Lane, Hillingdon Middx
I know someone who was damaged by Dr? Reissis, he has suffered nothing but persecution ever since, why do good doctors cover for bad ones who discredit the profession? The BMA seems to protect wrongdoers and corporate interests, this has to change, people have had enough.
Hi Paul, I too am a victim of Nikos Reissis, had half my clavicle removed, all the ligaments and part of my subscalpular during a “routine clavicle repair” leaving my arm completely disconnected from my shoulder.
I would very much like to make contact with you as I intend to take legal action against him, so please send a reply and let’s join forces.
Many thanks
Stan

I also have concrete evidence that at least 3 different hospitals have doctored my Xrays to try and hide what Reissis did to me but didn’t do a very good job
I have just happened across this discussion, as i’m looking for an orthopaedic surgeon to assess a leg injury I sustained in marathon training. I’m so sad to hear this feedback on mr reissis, as I maintain that he is the only reason I can walk, run, cycle and play football today. I suffered a badly broken leg with dislocated ankle in 2007 and was lying in an NHS ward for 4 days before meeting mr reissis. he immediately took over and I requested a transfer to private hospital (I luckily have this cover through work). he operated the next day, and it was a great success. the plate in my leg remains (my choice) but he removed the pin from my ankle absolutely fine. I realise he has made mistakes, but I felt it only fair to share positive experience of mr reissis. (as it happens, a family friend recommended I see him whilst I was waiting in the nhs ward – but I didn’t know about this until he happened to take up my case. this family friend has also had wonderful experience of his work)

Following a “routine clavicle repair” performed by Nikos Reisses I suffered a complete shoulder collapse due to the fact that Reissis amputating my clavicle, part of my subscalpular and all the ligaments that support the arm.
Also the supraspinatus tendon which attaches the arm to the body has become completely disconnected, meaning the weight of my arm is being taken up by my neck, which now has 4 collapsed vertebre
This surgery was done in a private hospital, paid for by the NHS and none of it was put in my records other than “arthroscopy” clearly done in order to cover up the horrendous crime committed by Nikos Reissis and to make things worse they did a character assassination to discredit me in order to deny me any further treatment, part of the cover up was to doctor my Xrays which you can see here in the video.

Between the 2003 and 2004 I was operated on by mr reissis four times . He botched a fallen arch operation , raising it to high . Which later caused a total tear of my Achilles’ tendon . He operated on that to fix it . Didn’t check the scar had healed and I got an infection in it . He left me with an open infected wound for 6 weeks to holiday in Greece on this return he operated for the fourth time to close it up . He removed my tendon completely leaving me unable to walk properly.
It has been life changing and I am dismayed to find he is still able to operate on others . It’s a disgrace .
