Trauma Surgeon Dr. Elliott Haut Publishes Study Suggesting Immobilization Harms Some Trauma Patients

A new study published in the Journal of Trauma suggests that the decades long practice of spine immobilization of patients in the field with penetrating wounds doubles mortality with little added benefit to the patient. The lead author of the study is Johns Hopkins Hospital trauma surgeon Dr. Elliott Haut.
