Veterinary surgeon Dr. Dean Richardson has proclaimed “tough times” ahead for the colt that shattered his right hind leg in the Preakness Stakes in May. The colt developed a serious infection in one of the areas of repair and required several urgent procedures and cast changes over the weekend. Despite the turn for the worse, Dr. Richardson has said there has been no discussion with owners Roy and Gretchen Jackson about ending the horse’s life.
