The United States Army has released some details of the last moments of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi’s life and a sketch of the autospsy findings. According to CNN and Army surgeon Colonel Steve Jones, he was alive when US military personnel arrived at his bombed hideout twenty eight minutes after the attack. It is unclear if he was conscious at the time but was reported that he had shallow and labored respirations. Reportedly medical personnel secured his airway but he died approximately 26 minutes later, apparently still at the scene. His autopsy report showed tearing, bruising, and bleeding in the lungs and other significant internal injuries.
