Retropubic urethropexy using needle suspension in stress incontinence in absence of cystocele; uses cystoscope to place sutures precisely at bladder neck and knitted Dacron to reinforce tissue on each side of urethra and to prevent suture pull-out. T-shaped incision is made in anterior vaginal wall, and 2 stab wounds are made in lower abdomen. Stamey needle is then advanced into vaginal incision using fingertip control, and nylon supporting sutures are passed.
