Pain, paresthesia, and numbness occurring while lying down; usu. affects dominant hand with absence of objective signs. Condition is most common in middle-aged women. Causes are multiple myeloma, amyloidosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and myxedema. Disorder is rarely idiopathic.
