Stromal corneal swelling with endothelial guttata; usu. manifests as epithelial edema on wakening and progresses to painless, blurred vision. Temporizing treatments are hypertonic eye drops and ointment, ?-blockers, and warm air blown over cornea; when progression occurs, corneal transplant is required.
