Sodium-losing congenital adrenal hyperplasia with virilizing characteristics similar to those found in simple virilizing congenital adrenal hyperplasia for both male and female (De Crecchio syndrome); marked by acute addisonian crises and enlargement of zona reticularis and fasciculata and atrophy of zona glomerulosa. Onset is 1st week of life or later if induced by infection. Treatment is NaCl 3Ð6 g in 1st 24 hours and desoxycorticosterone 2 mg IM with pellets implanted on long-term basis.
