Fructose-1,6-diphosphatase deficiency causing acidosis, hyperventilation, and refractory hypoglycemia, which often results in seizures and coma; autosomal recessive condition occurring in infants after infection, severe stress, or prolonged fasting. Normal development and life span are possible with early diagnosis.
