Mesenteric cysts are non-neoplastic lesion found in the mesentery of the small bowel, most commonly in adults in the 5th and 6th decades.
They typically contain serous or chyle fluid and can be treated by internal drainage into the peritoneum (i.e., unroofing of the cysts with drainage into the peritoneal cavity.)
Aspiration of the cysts can also be performed, but results in a high recurrence rate.
